There is no two words about it:
The technology has helped us, but the only thing is everything has pros and cons. Without technology/scientific knowlege we wouldn't be answering these questions on internet. Technology/scientific knowledge made us realize that stars are not haning lanterns (as mentioned in some folk stories). Technology/scientific knowledge made us realize that the world is not flat and it is not a huge flat surface shouldered by 4 large elephants on a huge turtle that floats on the sea (this is a true mythical idea long time back).
But there are bad sides to it too. Golbal warming / wars / pollution and there are many too. It depends on the way people use it.
But the next generations will be more brainier than us. They shall tackle these issues too. It is our duty make the next generation brainier, to put them in the right track.
Don't worry about technology, it is always for good.

This argument comes up many times. The point is that either we progress in technology or die. Soon the earth will no longer be habitable, the sun will burn out, an asteroid will hit earth, a great epidemic will arise, or whatever. If we aren't advanced in technology by those times we will die, and certainly making fire with wood and sticks isn't going to help prepare us for leaving earth when the time comes.

yes it has hurt our morals, but some people are just like that regardless, eventually we'll spread out to different planets and then there wont be overpopulation, all thanks to technology, things will work itself out

yeah i think its both too. Its helped us by the way it discovered new medicines and captured violent criminals (like you said) but it also hurted us in a way that it can endanger people in identity theft or "online predators" such as things like that.
