First the American Flag is folded lengthwise in half and then in half again. Then starting with the Blue end you make a tri-angle with one corner. You then continue, wrapping the tri-angle until about four inches is left to tuck into the 'pocket' where the next fold would have gone.

There is no set number of times. It depends upon the size of the flag.

Edit: OOOOOPS!!!! Looks like the FIRST Answerer, xjoizey, REALLY KNOWS his stuff!!!!! I never paid much attention to how many times I folded the Flag when I did it. :(

it's folded in half width way twice, then folded in a triangle shape tightly until you can not fold it anymore, after that you just tuck it in the end. There is no exact number...it's all due to the size of the flag.

It depends on the flag. the ones on coffins are longer than flags that are flown but mostly 13 times
