Pick the fund that best suits your risk profile. Also note that past performance isn't necessarily a good indicator of future performance.

If you don't know, go to www.vanguard.com and pick a no-load fund to keep costs down. For example, you can buy VFIAAX (the S&P 500) as a nice, generic investment for exposure to the US.
