First group all like terms together (note that the signs also change): 3x-6x-4x = -2

Next, solve the equation using normal maths:
3x-6x-4x = -2
-3x-4x = -2
-7x = -2

Then you times each side by -1 (it is nessesary as you want the final ans to be positive):

-7x * -1= -2 * -1
7x = 2

Finally, to find x, just use normal division and your final answer would be:

x= 2/7

It's been a LONG time since I've had to do this, so I may be wrong. Here's what I see, though: Leave the |4x-8| alone for the time being. Add 3x to both sides of the = sign. This will give you |4x - 8| = 9x + 2 Maybe then you start messing with the |4x-8| by subtracting that 2 from both sides and subtracting that 4x from both sides: -10 = 5x Divide both sides by 5, and that leaves you with x = -2. Does that look right?

3x-6x + 2=4x

the best way to do this is combine the like terms (the x's)

-3x + 2 = 4x (Subtract 3x-6x)

2 = 7x (Add 3x to 4x, because you must do the opposite operation to both sides of the equation)

divide both sides by 7 and get 2/7 = x

First add 3x - 6x which = -3x, so
-3x + 2 = 4x
then add 3x to both sides
-3x + 3x + 2 = 4x + 3x, which equals:
2 = 7x
then divide both sides by 7:
2/7 = 7x/7, which equals
2/7 = x

3x-6x +2 =4x >>>>>>>>> combine like terms which is "3x-6x"

-3x+2 = 4x >>>>>>>>>>> add "+3x" for both sides because there is "x" in both sides

2 = 7x >>>>>>>>>>>>>> now divide by "7" both sides because you are trying to make the "x" alone

2/7 = x >>>>>>>>>>>>> thats the solution

3x-6x+2=4x
-3x+2=4x

add 3x on both sides:

2=7x

divide 7 on both sides

2/7=x

3x-6x +2 = 4x
-3x +2 = 4x (Use simple equation like + and - to solve the whole qn)
2 = 4x +3x
2 = 7x
x= 2/7

It's straight forward type of Qn

3x-6x+2=4x -->> move 4x and change sign
3x-6x+2-4x=0 -->> sum all x's --have same grade
-7x = -2 -->> x= 2/7

2006-11-08 13:28:20 · answer #8 · answered by iuri 2 · 0 0

3x-6x+2=4x

First you need to get all like terms together (xs)
Subtract the 4x to the other side

3x-6x+2-4x=0

Then add and/or subtract all the x's

-3x+2-4x=0

-7x+2=0

Now move the 2 to the other side

-7x=-2

Then divide

-7x/-7=-2/-7

Then simplify

x=2/7

You can also write it as x=.286
