Notice to Vacate

Dear Ms. _____
Please take notice of our intention to vacate apartment 409 in the apartment community known as Lakeview Apartments located at 123 Main Ave. N. in the City of Portland.

We will vacate on or before December 15, 2006 as stated on the Lease Agreement. Please accept this note as our letter of notification of moving.

Please call us at our cell upon receipt of this notice so that we can schedule a mutually accessible time for you to do a walk through prior to my date of vacancy in order to clear up any issues that would preclude us from receiving our security and pet deposits.
Our time as tenants for you has been enjoyable and we have enjoyed renting from you. We would like to request a reference from you.
Thank you.

Sincerely,
tenant1 and tenant2

I agree that this is very well written. I would add your cell number to the letter. 'Please call us at our cell, xxx-xxx-xxxx, upon...'
or 'Please call us at our cell number below upon...' and put your cell number at the bottom under your names.

This way they will not have to go look up your number when they read the notice and potentially lay it aside for later, it gets covered up, etc. Your number is right there and they should pick up the phone and call. There is no reason they shouldn't since you have all the information right there for them.
Just my 2 cents. ;-))

If more than ONE person is moving - then say WE and everyone sign the letter.

If they want a two week notice, tell them that two weeks from now they will notice that you are gone.
