When you first notice that you're pregnant, you should be making an appointment with your ob/gyn to have the pregnancy confirmed at their office, and then they'll set up a schedule for you to be coming in and having regular checkups and to get necessary tests done.

Oh, and btw...congrats!

Most OB/GYNs book between the 11th and 12th week of pregnancy. They count from the first day of your LMP.
I just made my appointment for our 3rd baby, first check-up. The office sent me a little booklet about symptoms, when to worry or call or not, and what you can do to quell some of them. Call now for an appt, since offices are usually pretty booked. Ask if they can send you some info for the time being, especially if this is first baby.
Good luck to you and yours.

If you don't already have an ob/gyn, call your regular doctor to have the pregnancy confirmed and ask him/her for a recommendation of an ob/gyn. call the ob/gyn and tell them you need your first prenatal appointment and they'll ask you what the date of your last period was and figure it out form there. I didn't have my first appointment until week 7

congratulations on your pregnancy, its always best to go to the doctor around 6 weeks or whenever you find out after then, at this check they will ask you questions and do a huge blood test to check your blood type and if your immune to certain things, and so on. They will also check your well being. After the 6 week check you will go once a month until week 27 then once a fortnight until week 26 then once a week until birth. If you have any problems during your pregnancy then you should go to the doctor even if its not the week your meant to. They might make appointments all depending on how your body copes with pregnancy. This is just on average as a normal pregnancy. Good luck and best wishes.

My OB won't even let you schedule an appointment before you are 6-8 weeks along. Call the Dr now to make an appointment so you can get in about that time. Also, just make sure you are on your prenatal vitamins and start watching your diet. Congrats!

When you get that first positive test result you need to make a apt. They will get you on track for the pre-ob dr visit then get you on the right weeks for visits. You will go monthly (once every 4 weeks) until you are in your 3rd trimester then you got twice a month and in that last month you go once a week. Unless you had a dr tell you that you are prego, they will do test to determine how far you are because sometimes our dates are not right.

Best of luck to you

I saw my obgyn at 4 weeks and I'm seeing him again at 8 weeks for my first ultrasound. Try to see him as soon as possible. They might not want to give you your first appointment until you're 8 weeks if you're a relatively healthy person. However, my friend didn't get to the gyno early enough to know that she had a fallopian tube pregnancy and she had to have surgery. It could have been prevented if she would have seen the doctor sooner and had an ultrasound to hear the baby's heartbeat and make sure it was growing in the uterus.

You need to go early to get some blood and urine tests. They need to make sure that you're immune to certain diseases and that your red and white blood cell count is normal. The urine test is for sugar, protein, infections, etc.

Ask your friends and family for recommendations for a good ob/gyn if you don't already have one you like. Then when you find one call and ask them when they want to see you.
