I live in a rural area and use a Wilson external cell antenna and yes it makes a big differance. In my opinion, they are well worth the money! If you have no service and plug in the antenna, I often get enough signal to make a call.

If your talking an external antenna then no it doesn't (ex. slvr, razr, krzr, black berries). Most of the signal received by the phone is through the internal antenna.

yes. just try looking at the bars on the screen with the antenna on and then unscrew the antenna and see how many bars go down.

Yes they still have to receive a signal

when i take mine out, i usually drop two bars.
