Since your daughter is only 4. You can start any tradition you think is right for your family. No one but you can determine how long you want to have the tree up. Traditionally, after Thanksgiving. Have fun with this one, you will enjoy Christmas again, like when you were a kid, through your daughter. Merry Christmas.

Put it up after thanksgiving because if you put it up before it will only be in the way if you have a large family and they come over for thanksgiving.

Who makes these rules? Aren't they arbitrary? Why should anyone have to ask when to put up a Christmas tree? You do it when you want, not when someone tells you to.

First off, the origins of this tradition are not Christian. It is not reported anywhere in the Bible that a tree was decorated when Christ was born. Heck, you can put it up for the 4th of July!

I will be putting mine up Thanksgiving night since I am off that night. My daughter and my brother will be at the house, so they will help. My husband has to go to work that night so I will save some of the decorations for him to put on.

I can't wait as well! I'm not sure when we are putting up the christmas tree but I'm guessing around mid november. My dad says we have to put it up early because my brother who lives in the UK is coming to visit! I'm so excited because I have not seen him for 10 years!

Happy holidays!

I know many families that put it up the day after Thanksgiving. I just wouldn't put it up sooner than that.

You might try getting one of those advent calendars, so she can open the windows day-by-day. Circle the day that the tree gets put up.
In the meantime, you can start activities like making presents or paper chains to decorate the tree later.
