My hubby and I drove from Seattle to central Florida when we moved here. We didn't make too many stops, but one of the places we did go sightseeing was the Painted Desert in Arizona, which was absolutely beautiful. I love road trips, they are always a blast :)

Yeah, 2 summers ago I packed up my 1971 VW, and my Labrador "Maddy" and took off for Crescent city California, "from"
Las Vegas Nevada! Oh my gosh, we had a great time. I folded the back seat down and made it into a bed with sleeping bags so I didn't have to get a motel room, and it worked out fine. When I arrived at my destination, my little sister couldn't believe I fit all my luggage & my dog into my Volkswagon! And it only cost 93.00
dollars there "and" back, and we're talking around 978 miles times 2! Yoooo-hooo! We had a blast! I'll probably do this again next summer. Any way, that was my experience traveling. We got to stop and see Mount Shasta, and some really beautiful land between here and there. My VW is soooo dependable too.

I drove to Eureka California many times and the Redwoods were breath taking. The air was so clean and fresh, It is worth the drive. After you exit the 5 fwy on the 22 hwy it is a long winding road that takes you through a big lake area and a few small towns like Nice. Then you hit the 101 hwy and travel north to the Redwoods and on up to Eureka.
I also drove 2100 miles in 2 1/2 days stopping twice in Texas to get a room but my mission was to get across the nation so it was not for fun that time;

When I lived in the south of Portugal, I used to drive three times a year to UK, a distance of 1610 miles give or take, stopping only for coffee. It used to take about 32 hours avoiding motorways and by the time I'd finished the trip I was almost hallucinating.
Wouldn't be able to do it now, and I certainly wouldn't recommend a distance like that to anyone who is not used to it.
I have however just done 5500 miles around northern Europe in 7 weeks on a 900cc Triumph, but stopped regularly. I was fortunate to be able to ride the whole distance in sunshine, Europe was fantastic this last summer!

Well the longest was from Phillips, Maine to Nashville, Tennessee. I was with my Grammy, Nana, and my aunt. We didn't stop at any interesting places and the entire ride I ate cigarette ashes that my gram flicked out her window and they came back into my window and into my mouth...bluck! That was 15 years ago. My most recent was to NY from Phillips to get my 9 year old daughter that was suppose to be camping with her friend for a week. It took us 12 hours to get there and 8 to get home, damn it we missed the sign!

from san jose, ca to sun valley id.
we took the route from san jose to lake tahoe and then up to idaho. it took about twelve hours no stops unless for food or gas or something. and then on the way back we stopped in reno for the night. wasn't too exciting.
we only took the car because it would be too hard to transfer ski's and snowboards and boots on to a plane. you wouldn't want to lose that stuff. : ]

I would have to say from Nanaimo B.C. to Oshawa Ont, a distance of almost 4000 miles. Next would be from Chilliwack B.C. to Prince Albert Sask, almost as far but not quite
