I asked my OH who is a techy and he says it is best to just borrow a genuine disk from somewhere as all disks are the same. The only difference between them all is the number.

You can find sites to download copy disks but they are really not worth the trouble.

Good luck.

Hi Gareth

Your laptop probably came with operating system pre-installed by the Supplier

This is known as OEM product or
Original Equipment Manufacturers Product

Means: suppliers BUY one copy of windows to install on machines that they have for sale but many licences for that copy
To get a 'copy' restored to your machine you will need to obtain a recovery disk for your operating system from your supplier
There may be a small charge for the disk

However if warranties have expired you may need to BUY AGAIN >>they are not cheap!
I paid almost £260 for my XP Pro

best of luck

You could try and download it from one of the bittorrent sites but I'm not sure if one code fits all.

Go back to the people who installed it for you - if you have a code then this is your licence and you are entitled to install from a backup copy.

Same thing happened....ring windows, they think we all have the disc and will send you one. Or the company that sold you the computer can install it for you.

You can use anyones XP HOME cd,but use your key...its already registered to your laptop...If yours is an XP UPGRADE key, you have to use an XP UPGRADE cd. The cd has to match the type of key youve got.
