Why are blonde people called "dumb/ dumb blonde"? Is it a cliche?

I dont get it. everyone is different. is it a cliche? note: i am not blonde.

I don't believe blondes are dumb, at least not all of them. humans have the ability to become unintelligent regardless of the hair color. the cliche about blondes being dumb should be blamed to mass media. the portrayal of blonds being very beautiful but unintelligent is due to the fact a lot of people consider that "look" to be ideal. Unfortunately, the aim of this campaign is to educate people not to focus on vanity... so sad.

It comes from the medieval time when the Normans invaded England. The Normans made some mistakes but still won the battle hence Dumb blond.

There is something about being blonde, in California, and a relation between sun exposure and happiness that makes the stereotype work. But it's complicated.

But all joking aside... There are people of all hair colours, who could be considered that category.
