You might have the same problem as we did this year. Try turning off the fan.....it should come on automatically when the thermostat kicks in. Good luck, hope this helps.

What about the Heat Anticipator gauge? What is it set at? It should match the settings on the inside plate of the furnace I think. I had this problem, and I adjusted the heat anticipator needle just a bit, and solved problem of furnace coming on for 30 secs, then shutting off, the firing back up again after a min or so. non-stop. Adjusted that little doo-hickey, and it fired up and ran until the house was warm. been fine since.. Check it out..

Is your furnace a Trane? What sounds to be the problem is the high limit is being tripped. Either the limit is faulty or you may have an issue with dirty filter, there is not enough air being moved across the heat exchanger and the chamber is getting hot. Something is a cause restricting air flow or It maybe the high limit going bad.

Could be a little tiny diode on the roof a 5.00 part that is malfunctioning I had some thing like this happened to me. If it gets snow or junk in it It won't work and shuts the blower down. Or it could be that the furnace it self is shutting down clean the crap dust bunnies out of the Round thing My furnace guy told me to vacuum this every year inside before start up and if you have pads change them.

Hope this helps Diane

if it's a new enough furnace to have it, your flame sensor may be dirty. It is off to one side of the burner, a small (2 inch long by pencil size or smaller) sensor with a wire coming off of it. Clean it with a little sandpaper.
i've found that about 80% of furnaces that work only for a short time are needing this simple 1 min fix.

Could be a few different things. I would start with checking or replacing the thermal coupling. The next, if equipped, would be a circuit board. Some have diagnostic leds that may indicate a problem. Beyond that I would have to get a HVAC tech out.

for your safety call a someone qualified to work on it many things can be wrong if the exhaust fan is blowing the wrong way it could push the fumes back in to your house. if the ignitor is not working you could get a delayed ignition

Is it blowing your pilot out too? Could be a backdraft (not enough circulation) could be a dirty switch-make sure flame is burning blue with no orange-carb cleaner works well (Make sure there is no flame obviously before you start spraying an aerosol-scrub with tootbrush easy and vacuum)

the problem is your 'thermo-coupling', its either warn out/going out, or your TC has been knocked out of adjustment by attempting to fix it with all the bad info your getting.
its good that they are all trying to help, but its the wrong info.
...another tidbit, if you have more than 1 45 degree bend in your vent pipe to the roof, that will cause it to go out in the same fashion.
luck to ya buddy
