When there is nothing but an open road, the odds are greatly increased that a deer will suddenly jump in front of your car. Hit a deer at even a moderate speed and you can total your car. Hit a deer at high speed and you can die.
No, I do not get the urge to speed. I like to watch the daisies and buttercups slowly float by as I drift gently along... That tortoise crossing the road up ahead will make it across before I get there.

Yeah, but then I remember that I'm broke and I don't have the money for a ticket for reckless driving. Which slows me down quick.
But if I had the money, oh man, I'd speed like a bat outta hell.
My parents said there was this really old guy who lived in this little town where they used to live. He'd go roaring down the middle of the road, straddling the center line, at like, a hundred miles an hour in a big ol' gas-guzzler pimp car, like a big 70s Caddy. Wild. They said everybody'd just get out of his way and he never got pulled over cuz everybody just figured he'd lived long enough to earn the right to drive however he wanted.
Sounds like fun.

Yes... All the time. I have a radar detector in My car especially for that.
I'm 23 and time to time I get the urge to roll the windows down and "floor it".

Oh yeah, sometimes I do it. But then I worry that cop may be just around the corner waiting to spoil my fun with a speeding ticket. Buzz-kills, party poopers.

Yes. I got a ticket once when I did that though. A Highway Patrolman was driving from the other direction, and when I saw him, it was too late to slow down.

This is because it is human nature to feel threatened by anything that has a vast presence. We try to escape because we can't just stay still and take in the view.
