You will need to set the limit on the MP3 player for your 10 year old so he doesnt ruin his eardrums. They can get pretty loud.

To answer you question the 30GB is the one I have and it was about $300. That one holds enough songs that if you listened to it without ever stopping it you can hear songs for over a week (that is of course if you add all the songs). The 256 MB is almost 2 cds worth of songs.

If your ten year old is reasonable responsible get him an ipod nano 4 gb. them come in different colors and hold enough music for the average user. plus the name 'ipod' is somewhat of a status symbol for some kids. If you think he'll be dropping the mp3 player or leaving it in the bottom of his bookbag I wouldn't suggest an ipod. I've ruined 2, even in cases, banging them around in bookbags. (And I'm 25!!) Anything with 4 gb should have enough space but remember, don't get the absolute cheapest brand because it's the cheapest for the reason.

And if you happen to have any Best Buy Bucks from the McDonald's game you can use them online or in the store up to $200 at a time, Ipods are not on the list of exclusions.

screw it. Dont buy an mp3 player for a 10 yr old. There's a lot of down side of having an mp3 player early. It's bad for your ears. And with an mp3 player, ur child will loose the attention for the real world. I dont think y should he have an mp3 player. Buy him a skateboard or something.
I'll answer u anyway. Buy something below $100. Ur 10-yr-old will break it or get bored soon (hello, he's 10). Buy something with a screen (not color screen). DO NOT buy the iPod Shuffle. It's a complete waste.
512Mb = about 125 songs
1Gb = 2 x 512 Mb
and so on.
Trusted brands: Creative Zen, Sony, iRiver
Reason why iPod is not in the list : iPod is very expensive and it's not durable. Giving a 10-yr-old an iPod is the most stupid thing a human can get done.

A ten year old wont need anything higher than 1 GB of memory for a MP3 player ( 1 gb is higher than 1 mb, in case you didn't know.) It should run you around 100 bucks.

Seriously, 1 GB is a lot of music. What you can do (which is what I did) is get an mp3 that doesn't cost so much. I think I got mine at Target for like $70. It has the radio, it can record off the radio, and it can hold like 3 hours worth of music. If your child shows interest in that, then you can buy a chip that attaches to the MP3, which adds hours and hours worth of music. I wouldn't suggest an IPod though. They don't have the radio, and they can't record.

256 or 512 mb hold less songs than anything in the gb amount. I don't know exactly the amount of songs each hold due to different size of songs. a good size to start out with is about 1gb to 4 gb.

Hey! MP3's are a great thing to buy for your child for him ( or her) to listen to what he wants and for you to feel more "secure" about what he hears. 1 GB hold about 1,000+ songs.That's alot! I am not sure about the kb thing but you can but Icards. You put money on them and then he( or she) can buy music.Music is only about ( or should be) 99 cents. Also there are skins and other acssories. An Idog is cool but won't last very long or it will but will start acting "wierd". Good luck and happy holidays!

The 2gb nano could be the main suitable for a 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous. It holds 500 songs,common to artwork and is basically approximately $one hundred fifty.it would be a lot much less stressful for her than a shuffle because of the fact the nano has a exhibit screen and performs the songs so as the place the shuffle basically performs random songs she has downloaded.A iTunes giftcard could be a great accesory along with her nano.Shecan additionally import cd songs to her nano.

As a teacher, can I advise you not to get your 10 year old an mp3 player. Most of the musci out there is not suitable for young kids and, at her age, she needs to focus on other things, like school work and making friends.

My 10 year old daughter also wanted one. We decided they are a bit antisocial for a child. She agreed that when she is listening to music the whole family should still be able to chat to her without having to pull out earplugs! We are just getting her some more Cd's instead and waiting for the teenage years before she blocks us out!!!
