I have a coat that says it is made of 100% polyester suede and I am wondering... will it get ruined if I wear it in the rain or snow?

Coats are made to be worn in most weather. Usually polyester is not damaged by water. I have a faux suede/fur blanket that can be machine washed but not dried. Drying removes the suede feel. Check the label for information.

If it says, "Dry Clean Only" on the care label (check the side seams or pockets--sometimes it's not in the neck), then I wouldn't risk it. Sometimes the dye can get runny and it looks bad, or it gets kinda wrinkly and melty-looking.

If it doesn't have a care label, see if you can track down the manufacturer through the store where you bought it or on the web or something. They can probably tell you.

If you want to go the do-it-yourself route, try wetting the hem or an inconspicuous part of the jacket. If the color doesn't run or it doesn't shrink or anything, it should be OK in the rain (fingers crossed.)

Yes, and it can get ruined if gets really wet and does not properly dry out. Best thing to do is get that suede protection and spray on it so the material does not absorb water.
