I just wanted to let those of you answering know that I will be a working mom who needs something quick and efficient. I have access to a "nursing mothers" room so quietness is not too important, but portability is.

I used the Medela Lactina, that thing is a beast! But sometimes the avent handheld one worked well, for some reason if I got a plugged duct is sucked it out more.

Medela definitely..... I am a mother of 2 and with the first did not have to use a breast pump but this one I tried a few from the "baby" store and found the Medela to be the best and you can buy the one that does both breasts at the same time to save time... Kudos to you for breast feeding your baby...!!!! It helps us lose the weight a lot quicker also...

It depends on why you need a pump/how you plan to use it.

For a SAHM who just wants to pump occasional bottles for an outing, I'd suggest the Avent Isis.

For a working mom, I'd suggest the Medela Pump In Style.

For a mom who might find it hard to find a private place to pump at work (school teacher?), I would suggest the Whisper Wear.

For a mom who thinks she will be exclusively pumping, I'd suggest renting a Medela Lactina.

Don't bother. The pump is a waste of money. Go for a cheap manual one. Medela Something or Other was at Target was only $31.49. That was a good pump. The electric one hardly got any use.

Rent the hospital grade Medela. It is pure gold.

My mother loved her medela and I plan on using it as well. She said it was comfortable and easy to use.

The Medala. They are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and in my opinion Medala is the best.
