My friend says its not, but if you can be seriously injured and you work as a team isn't it a sport.

I used to be a cheerleader, its definitely a sport, you have to be tiny (the coaches get on you about being fat all the time, they are always yelling at you to lose weight) and then you have to be really strong because you have to pick up other people. you really can get hurt, trust me, its a sport!

No, it is not a sport. Needing strength, stamina, etc. do not make an activity a sport, nor does the fact that an activity has a competition and judging. For example, music is not a sport, even though it requires long hours of practice and there can be competitions and judging. Lumber-jacking is not a sport, even though it requires strength, stamina, and there are some competitions. Ice sculpting is not a sport.

Cheerleading is just eye candy for crowds at football and basketball games. That's why the girls wear the skimpy outfits and do provocative moves while the guys wear more conservative attire.

It is now. They work out, practice, and compete. If that is not a sport, I don't know why the rest of them are called sports then! It is different than it was in years past. Ask the cheerleading coach that questions. I bet he or she will agree with me.

It is NOT a sport. A sport is defined as "specific diversion, usually involving physical exercise and having a set form and a body of rules: game"
No denying the physical exercise, but where is the set form and a body of rules. How does one tell who won the game?

I don't believe it is categorized as a sport but in my opinion it should be as there are competitions. The people involved in it have to work really hard and prove themselves just like any other athlete.
