5 to 6 hours a day? that is so selfish, i think he needs to start spending time with his family not his computer, if he neglects his family one day he might wake up and they will be gone, computers can offer a wide range of addictive entertainment and often create an addictive world for people to ascape to instead of having to deal with real life. one day his wife might die or maybe his brother or sister or a child and he will regret not spending that extra time with them. when a computer dies you can just replace the parts but when a person dies you cant replace them. he needs to have a wake up call and have a good look in the mirror.

My boyfriend plays poker online for hours too. If I ask him to spend time with me, though, he gets right off the computer. I think it's mindless activity after a long day of work, and most men need that. Maybe they could compromise, like he only plays for an hour a night.

Poker can be an addictive game. On the other hand, it can be relaxing after a hard day's work.

I own worldpokersite.com. I see people play over 5 hours a day. Many of them have jobs and have families. And I constantly remind them to play responsibly. I know all my players. They are from around the world. They tend to like to social with people on the other side of the world and play poker. That's the great thing about playing online.

However, it is important to spend time with your wife and family because that is higher priority. What I recommended doing for some of my players is to get your family involved. In this I mean teach your wife to play poker using real cards. My daugther plays cards with me, not necessarily holdem yet, but it's fun playing battle. She is learning her shapes, colors, counting numbers and comparison. Even though I'm playing cards, I still do it with my family for fun.

Poker is fun and you can teach anyone to play. Make it a family game. Or sit together, make popcorn and watch poker on TV. Ask him to share his experience with you, how he plays, how he bluffs, what cards to play what to fold. Get his family to be involved when he is online - don't drag him away. Rather, spend time with him, and then ask for his time in return to do other things. Speak up, but do it nicely.

One thing I did for myself and family is creating poker tshirts. We buy iron sheets, create a nice poker design, and iron it to tshirts. We wear them when we go out to play. On the back of the tshirt, it says "WorldPokerSite.com", and on the front it says "I'm a Millionaire", because at my site, everyone has a million chips.

One thing great about worldpokersite.com is it has a poker blog. You can upload photos, music, and video into your poker blog. I think this would be a great tool to help bring people closer.

It is not fair to his family for him to IGNORE them, but it is also not fair for him if he can't spend a few hours by himself to play poker and get his mind off of work and off of home issues.
But I recommend making it fun for everyone, whether playing online or doing something that promotes quality time with familes - even if it is poker related or not.

I wish you and that family the best.

It's only a problem if his wife thinks it is. My husband spends half the night after work on the computer, and I don't care.
