I took $300.00 for three weeks in Cebu, staying in Cebu City for free, Malapascua Island, and Moalboal for a few days each (by bus/boat). Probably put another $100-$200 on the credit card for over budget expenses, and another $300 for a party my wife's neighborhood. That's taxis, walking, 1/2 fast food or street food mostly, except at the two resort towns, groceries, not too much shopping.

Wow, that depends on a LOT of variables...
Are you staying in a hotel or with friends? Will you use a credit card for hotels, or cash? What part of PI are you going to (Manila is more expensive than most of the provinces)?
Need more information to really help you. In general, things are much less expensive than in the US -- for example, at McDonald's in Davao, the "big mac meal" is 120 pesos, only about $2 US (or less depending on exchange rate). A taxi ride from NAIA (Manila airport) to Makati will run you about 500 pesos ($8-$9). A San Miguel at a bar is less than $1.
Wherever you're going have fun -- I love the Philippines!

It depends on your lifestyle & if you have friends or relatives here who will gladly accommodate you!
Compared to Hongkong & the US, since I had been there, basically food, hotel accommodations, means of transportation would be cheaper here in the Philippines!
If you dont have friends & relatives here, then you will have to check in the hotels. Rates are really higher but as I said, lower than in any part of ASIA or USA.
If you choose to travel using rented cars vs taxi vs taking a bus or jeepney or MRT or LRT ( our railway systems) that would make a lot of difference in 10 days!
A word of CAUTION! People take advantage of the TOURISTS! These are true especially with taxicabs. There are alot of pickpocketers! Dont show them your bundles of dollars!
However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Definitely, anywhere in the world has these problems too.
The Philippines is definitely a nice country to visit! I think you should revise your question! Add some things like, where do you plan to stay, where do you plan to go ( what are your interests)! Are you more into dining into hotels, fastfoods ? Most of our 5 star hotels are of the bed & breakfast type.
If you want to go to the beaches then the in thing among tourist is either go to Boracay or resorts in Palawan especially if you want to go scuba diving!
If you want to see the metropolis, then you can start with Intramuros in Manila, Baywalk, Mall of Asia, the biggest mall here in the Philippines! It would be cheaper in the metropolis comparing it to going to Boracay & Palawan since in the metropolis you dont have to take a plane. You can also go to Makati where we have the best malls also! Greenbelt!
Do you want to go to cooler places? We have Tagaytay , famous for its Taal Volcano! This is also popular among tourist! Mind you the fruits are expensive that even us, Filipinos , dont buy it there. Tourist price! Do you want to go boating near the Taal Volcano?
The Philippines is already 2nd home to most Europeans, Americans, Asians! I was surprised that most of them love it here. Europeans love our sun! Japanese, Koreans, Chinese have their business here!
If you want to call back home, calling from your cellphone or hotel will be more expensive. You can use PLDT budget cards which you can buy i the malls that is if you have access to landlines
( staying with friends & relatives). We have internet shops everywhere & which you can use at lower prices than using the ones in the hotels.

You can take 2000 dollars. If you have relatives in the Philippines, you should bring 10 000 dollars. If you have a lot of friends, bring 20 000 dollars. If you dont have any relatives, then beware, when you wake up one morning there, a lot of your long lost relatives will show up.

200usd a day will cover anything you might need with a hotel costing 50usd a night. It's hard to spend another 150 unless you like multiple company at night.
You should be able to drink, eat and explore very well on 200.
