How young? Here are some great young-adult reads:
-A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray: A Victorian-era schoolgirl discovers she has the power to transport herself and her friends to another world
(then, read the sequel, Rebel Angels)
-Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer: Told as the diary of a 16-year-old girl, whose world is changed when an asteroid hits the moon
-Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer: A 17-year-old girl falls in love with a vampire, who falls in love with her... this book made me want a handsome vampire to fall in love with me! I just started the sequel, New Moon.

"On The Road" by Jack Kerouac. It's all about 2 guys taking road trips across the country and into Mexico. It's not too long, and it's an easy read. It's a classic - check it out !
