I noticed today was the 8th of November, and it got me thinkng, what event is the song "The eighth of November" by Big and Rich, referring to?

It was when the 173rd airborne dropped into Viet Nam and was very out numbered, 23 to 2300 (something like that) and only a few survived, but they killed lots of bad guys. Listen carefully to the words of the song, it explains it all. The guy that survived salutes his fallen brothers once a year with a beer. It is one of my favorite songs, as my son is in the 173rd airborne.
