No I think that when you abort a pregnancy, you are killing a human being.

I don't know which side of the issue you stand on, but I think that people should have the ability to get an abortion. I don't necessarily think it's good, but they should have the choice. I don't see why this is such a controvercial issue. It's a woman's body, and it really should be her choice what she does with it. That said, I don't think women should go around having sex because they "can always get an abortion." And anyways, it's barely ever an easy decision for women, it's not just like they want to throw a human being away.

This is such a controversial issue and no one like to really think about it from both perspective sides...there are so many different factors that could effect the ultimate decision of a abortion, such as rape or a fatal illness you are the unborn may have, there are just too many things that could be going on for a single person to say if it is right or wrong. I believe it's all about the circumstances you are in...eg..you get pregnant at the wrong time and have an abortion....that is wrong and irresponsible and there is the bigger issues, you are raped...then you get pregnant...do you want to bring a child in this world from hate from the get go? Then the last question? Is the mother or child fatally ill? will this birth end your life or the child's? or will the child suffer once it is born?..this is not a simple right or wrong question and anyone who has answered this should know this..

If you are considering abortion, think about the things I have mentioned in this short (essay)lol, before making this decision...Good luck to you or the anyone who has to make this decision..

This is such a difficult choice because of the fact that there are certain circumstances that I believe call for abortion. Incest ,rape, & life or death of the mother. However, no abortions must be done after the 1st tri-mester. (if it is rape or incest it should be done right away.) No woman should have to bear that-but it is just MY opinion. There are guidelines that should be followed and even though i'm not FOR abortion, i'm not against it in all situations. Certainly parents should know only if it was not the result of abuse or incest. This doesn't really fully answer this kind of question but i don't think there is a one-for-all answer anyway. But it is my best answer.

Abortions themselves are never good. I want to believe that everyone values life.

However, it is the choice between abortion and the existence of other options that make abortion such a debated issue.

Abortion has to be considered in relation to everything else and not for it itself.

Is it good? no answer is safe without equally good arguments against it.

Abortions are neither intrinsically good or bad. They are effective in terminating a pregnancy that a woman does not wish to contnue to term for whatever personal reasons she has. It should be a medical decision that is private between her and her physician and those she chooses to involve.

The role of government should be no more or less than in any medical procedure, insuring safety and licensing of those who practice medicine.

Those who have emotional, moral or relgious objections to abortion should not be forced to have them, but they have no right to impose their values, beliefs or judgments on others.

Abortion may be a sad choice based on many different situations which include the extreme of being necessary to save the life of the woman. The choice of technique used should be made by a competent trained physician, not a judge or legislature.

It is an outright lie to claim that abortions are "bad" for your body. They are eleven times safer than a pregnancy brought to term. They are not linked to breast cancer in any reputable research and they do not present any special risk to future fertility. That of course refers to safe, legal abortions, not the backroom variety that desparate women will seek if the law prevents safe medical care.

I don't think that anyone thinks abortions are "good" but they are an option that some women choose and they are the law of the land. Is it good that women have a choice? Most people seem to think that it is or at least the law says that that choice is available and of course everyone can choose their own path on this as to what they believe they want to do with their life and their choices which is part of what makes America great.

Abortions are necessary. They give girls and women who are unsuitable or unready for that huge a responsibility a choice. And choice is a powerful thing. And if you're a young woman who's experienced it, I'm sure after all the pain and guilt that comes with it, in the end you feel empowered to be able to control your own life and have a choice.

Alot of mothers are very unsuitable, emotionally financially every which way. Abortions ensure that you don't bring a child into the world if it isn't going to get the best love and caring. Its never an easy decision at all, and in the end is the best for everybody, the girl and the community, even the county.

Obviously if you're ready or willing to have an unplanned baby, then power to you, it takes a very strong woman to handle it well. But if you're opting for an abortion, know that it's really difficult but in the end you are taking control of your life.

I once had one and felt extra guilty etc, then my philosphy prof told me that hey, its never been born, so s/he doesn't feel like its missed out. Its all your own guilt. And at the end of the day, now 2 years later, I got over the bad feelings associated with it and feel empowered.

Its never "good" but sometimes, its just the better option.

Well this is a very touchy discution theme you brought on here! there will be plenty thumbs down or up!
Personally i think it's the womans choice to do with her body as she wants to ! To avois geting pregnant all the girls and women should take the pill or other form of contraception , so they do not have to make this awful choice of an abortion. This day and age where there is so much plenty and good contraception ,there should never be an abortion . It always takes 2 to tango!

No. I could never have an abortion.

That being said, I also wouldn't criminalize it nor would I demonize women that have had them. It is not my place (white upper middle class woman) to decide whether an abortion is right or wrong for other women with different circumstances from me. That is her decision.

I'm against abortions, but I'm pro-choice.
