ok when i connect my iPod to my computer instead of it appearing on iTunes like it usually does all that happens is that it opens up like an external drive would, showing folders. but not connecting to iTunes at all. anyone have any advice?

This is to physically create playlists, which I do not. I always just close it out and enter iTunes.

Its so much easier to work through the iTunes interface and there's less confusion!

Go to "My Computer" then find the ipod (while its plugged in) it should be something like F:/ or G:/. then right click F:/ (or Whatever) and click "properties", then go to the "autoplay" tab where there should be options as to what you would like done upon plugging it in. I keep mine as starting nothing because I use my 30gb for both an external hard drive and an mp3 player.

go into itunes, manually, with your ipod plugged in, and go to the ipod part were it shows the little image of your ipod, and in one of the boxes your able to check, find the one that says"automaticly activate when ipod is plugged in" or something of that nature. if that doesnt work, call the company.
