An associates degree is a good steppin stone into a career in the marketing field. But to advance in marketing, you'll need a BA and preferable an MBA, especially if you want to teach in post-secondary.

As for becoming a marketing teacher, I think you cannot teach at any level with just an associate's degree; if you had many years of professional experience with signficant accomplishments, you might be able to get by with just an AA, but I doubt it.

If you want to teach marketing in high school, then you will need the BA plus a teaching certiicate.

I have a BA, MA and MBA and have more than 10 years of university teaching experience but to teach in high school, I still need to get that darned certificate!

If you're thinking K-12, Marking is usually an elective. This means you must also have a teachable major like Language Arts, Social Studies, Math or Science. There are usually no requirements for teaching electives; anyone can teach them regardless of educational background. If you want to have any chance of getting a job you need to complete a four-year Bachelor's degree in a core subject area and then follow the procedure for teaching certification in your area (ideally a two-year Bachelor of Education degree).

To teach at the college level you'll need AT THE VERY MINIMUM an MBA and some practical work experience.

That depends on the state. Each state is different. The state is responsible for the regulations.

In New York State, teachers must have a 4 year degree in education (or a 4 year degree and a teaching certification) AND obtain a master's degree within 5 years of graduation. Also, one must pass 4 different state test!
