Write down the number on the ignition cylinder.
Take this number to a Honda dealer.
Wait 5 minutes.
Be Happy.
That's what I did. I wasn't asked for proof of ownership. Didn't matter, was my bike. I brought the cylinder, but wasn't neccessary. At $3.00 apiece, I bought 2.
PS Most hardware stores AND locksmiths in my area do NOT make motorcycle keys.

If you can't get any help through a Honda dealer, take the ignition switch to a locksmith. My shop does this all the time. Most locksmiths have blank keys for motorcycles. Ask the locksmith if you need to bring a blank key (tell him the make and model of your bike). If you do, you can buy them from your Honda dealer.

On the ignition switch ittself there is a number stamped on it (approx. 6 digits) Take that number to your local Honda shop and they will be able to cut a key for you. Unfortunately, the number is hard to see and may require removing the switch in order to see it at all. Contact your shops service department and they should be able to give you the flat rate price for doing the job if you can't do it yourself.

Take your certificate of ownership into a Honda Dealership. The certificate should have the vehicle's identification number. They can order/make the key there.
