Flash/ 3D max!!! Im worried that i dont quite cut it to get a decent job within these industries.?

Question

basically this is my story. I graduated in august from the london college of printing. (the best in london, yippee). I work with macromedia flash as a web designer, but i also intergrate my 3d max skills with my flash. My 3d max skills are above average and so are my flash.

The problem:

Ive spent the past 3 months after graduating, improving my 3d max knowledge, and have just recently been looking for available jobs on the web.

Im scared shitless that im not good enough. The skills that these jobs require, im scared that im lacking. Im a web designer, not a developer. i dont know php sql, and as for 3d max im a modeler, and although i have animated many scenes, i dont use bones or joints, and i'm lacking uv unwrapping knowledge as regards to texturing.

Your help:

Just some friendly words of encouragement would help, from anyone within these industies, or anyone going through similar experiences. Thnx alot =0).

If your above average in both whay are you worrying? When people are looking for graduates for a position they know that some holes in your knowledge will exist, most people will give on the job training or allow you the time to learn as you go.

If I were you I'd be honest at interview stage about what you can and can't do but at the same time say you're willing to learn and are quick to pick things up.

In my industry (arcitecture) 3d max is not the only package used but people realise that if you can use it then it won't take you long to learn the others.

I am not a Flash web developers but I have used flash many times and I am very average at it and I am going to study computer science in college. What I found for my selves is that if u write some steps down and read it few times a day like 2 and then go and create some stuff if could be and animation or just modeling in 3d max the tip I found if that how crappy u are doesn;t matter the only thing is that u do or review things many times as u do them many times ur brain exactly remember's and just saY a company wants u to create a car chase or etc for their ad if u have review of pratice it few them then u can add a reflection to the car because u might have done it so many times ur brain be like ok I know how to do this. U shouldn't let ur self down. The other day I was learn this code which I wasn;t able to remember or know what the heck it was talking about so What i did was read it few time and created that code in the computer probably 10
or more times known I know what it means and I and write it withing out having to look at the book. The key is practice and remembering man. Remember this.

You may be looking in the wrong industry or for the wrong position. Think laterally and out of the box (charities very often need web developpers, as do primary schools, small businesses, and others that could give you a point of entry).

Most jobs request 10 or 20 skills but at the end, when you interview, only a few of those skills are relevant.

Also you should investigate graduate programs in big companies.

Most websites nowadays have links to the grad programs or to recruiting information that may go around the nonsense some jog agencies demand.

I know where you are coming from. I am trying to break into the web industry myself and it just seems that there is no way in.

I know with the right company I will do well and I am sure you are the same.

get onto the internet there are always free tutorials for what you what to do, i have just become a web designer and developer for my mate i i learnt most of what i now from the web.
