A coroner is generally an elected position, therefore you would have to run and campaign to be elected in your county. The coroner in my county makes $27,000 per year. I am a mortician, my annual salary is about $70,000, but I am also the manager of the firm. Good luck to you!

I think the pay range varies from $ 500. to $15,000 or more depending on how elaborate the services provided are and how often. Its a very good field to work in and one of the more secure careers to per sue.. But I would call a local coroner or mortician and ask questions both the larger ones as well as the smaller ones. And just know that there is more to it than just cooking up some human flesh and placing it in a box and filling with formaldehyde..
Please note that the figures I give you are for each service or person served not on an annual.
