I agree with your classmates on the first question. If I achieve my current goals though, I'll just come up with a new goal, so there's no problem. So I guess I don't have an "ultimate" goal, since my goals change. Also, I consider this a personal question and not a spiritual one.

I believe that everyone has the same ultimate goal in life and that is to have the good life.
The question thus is, what exactly is the good life?

The Irish say, as you pass from this Earth, "May you be safely by Saint Peter for 1/2 hour before the Devil knows your dead!" or somthing on the order.
I say, in that 1/2 hour, may your father pat you warmly on your back, your mother give you a loving hug, and your brothers and sisters stand up to greet you.

To live a life for something greater than myself. I'm far from perfect, and any dreams I have are tainted with my own self-interest and greed. But I know that God loves me and has a plan for my life, and I want to follow that plan as best I can. I don't want to follow out of fear -- I already know Jesus has paid the price for my sins. Instead, I want to follow out of a passion and a love for God and His goodness. And what He has in mind for my life is far better than any of my own fantasies. Harder maybe, but so much better.

If a life has a goal, it is to exist. To exist is to be distinct. The unique, and individuality supports a need of my existence. Through such existence, the goal is to fulfilling my potential. That potential is knowing God, through my uniqueness.
