I have 2 dogs and a cat, and they've had fleas for almost 2 months now, i always use the frontline every month, i vacuum every 2-3 days, and i bathe them regularly. But my vet said to get either carpet spray or carpet powder designed to kill the fleas and their eggs. The only problem is, i can only find the kinds where i have to leave the house due to fumes.
Is there a spray or powder for my floors that I can use without leaving the house?
(other trhan hartz, I've heard too many bad things about that product)

you need to find something with an IGR in it, insect growth regulator. the products found at most pet stores and such really don't work. most vets with have a spray that you can purchase or they will special order for you to have on hand and use in your house on the floors and bedding etc. this product with the IGR in it continues to work for an extended period of time after you spary it and vaccum etc. kinda like using frontline on your carpets!
you made a mention of bathing your pets regularly, hopefully you are doing this 48 hours before re applying the frontline. or are using a non soap shampoo for the pets. as to not wash off the frontline. put a flea collar in your vac bag and this will help to kill fleas only in the bag.
the thing with fleas are that in the pupua stage they can't be killed. the other 3 stages of fleas can be with the IGR products. adults, eggs and larvae. they also can control when they hatch. if the enviroment isn't ideal they won't hatch. they feed off of the adult feces when they hatch, so if no adults to leave feces behind they will die. it can take 6 mo to a year to completely rid your house of fleas. having to break the cycle is the start. don't waste your money on hartz and other OTC products. go to your vet and have then get you something. good luck

Why don't you go the professional route and have a professional spray? The treatments on the animals won't work if you don't treat the source, the fleas hiding in your house and in egg form. Sometimes it takes more than once to have a professional spray because new eggs hatch all the time. I would not spend any money on the rinky dink stuff like powders and foggers. Get to the bottom of the problem with an exterminator.

You can find carpet powders at most pet stores (Petsmart and Petco even sell them online). I prefer the one made by Zodiac. It works very well. You also want to make sure you thoroughly wash your dog's bed and your sheets in very hot water. If possible you want to steam clean your furniture. Fleas breed in carpets, couches, chair cushions, etc. And remember, you can only kill the fleas themselves, you cannot kill flea eggs (even though some products swear they can) so any treatment must be done repeatedly.

We had this same problem. Front-line DIDN'T do any good! We had fleas crawling every where. It was awful!!! I would say that the only way to get these fleas killed would be to fumigate the whole house. Beleve me its worth it. Havent seen a single flea in a long long time!

20 mule team borax. Sprinkle it in the carpets, wait a day or two and vaccum up. all the fleas will be dead and the animals can roll on the rug and it kills the ones on them too but is safe for humans and pets. It's in the soap aisle at walmart.

borax and salt mixed together , they work better together then one item alone, my brother is in pest control and its been the best advise i ever got, leave on a few days and vacum and repeat a month later so they dont return. it only kills the living fleas not the eggs. so once a month is good.
