Please don't laugh, I am dead serious....
I sold a Ford Focus to a man who was 6'10"
He & his wife drove one in England & couldn't believe how well he fit.
The seat has a height adjustment & you will need the teloscoping / tilt wheel.
The Focus is very fuel efficient.

You said you "would like to buy something a little more gas friendly"........but does that mean you do NOT need a pick-up ? Your question is unclear on that point...

BTW after driving that Focus for 4 years, they recently traded it in for a Ford Escape.

The Escape is also available as a Hybrid which is THE most fuel efficient SUV on the planet.

If you're in the midwest (chicago area) I'll be happy to prove my point.

try a Ranger or Explorer, they have a lot of room and plenty of power with the ohc v6 or v8 I also heard the diesel trucks get pretty good mileage :)
