yesterday's vote: all the fake conservatives are gone. Been voted away. Seems the people had enough of supposed fiscal conservatives spending money like an F. Scott Fitzgerald character.

I really don't need to delve into the party's ethical transgressions as there are just as many on the Dem side, but personally, Randal Cunningham broke my heart: The man is a true American hero that went astray.

Now the Republican party has been thinned down to those that truly support conservative ideals. I realize these words aren't much consolation, but they are true.

Am I alone praying the democratic leadership will look past their personal rivalries and vendettas to focus on national security?

You are correct. This is one of the reasons people like Andrew Sullivan were calling for the Democrats to take Congress - many of the Republicans that lost were the moderates or, like Curt Weldon in Pennsylvania, some of the biggest spenders in Congress. Have to wonder if Denny Hastert will now decide to resign his seat as well.

It's time for the GOP to stop going down the road that the populists (socially conservative, economically liberal) have taken us down and return the Party to what it was supposed to be - the defenders of the taxpayers in the country, and the Party dedicated to small government. 12 years in power in Congress has led the GOP to becoming as big as spenders as the socialistic Democrats are.

When you have Republicans defending the Social Security system as something great and trumpeting the fact that they just gave senior citizens one of the biggest entitlements ever in prescription drug coverage so that they can live even longer to suck more money from the government teat, you know that the fiscal conservatives are no longer in charge. Maybe the GOP will realize this before 2008, and return to its roots. Or, it may need to go completely into the wilderness and let the Democrats **** the country over for a few years before they realize where they need to be.

Dems don't claim to have all the answers, unlike others. But, we do know when something is out of whack, like it is with Dubya. If we may judge by the press conference today, looks like he may be seeing the light and gotten rid of the neocons in his midst and start taking a saner approach to getting the job done in Iraq and getting the heck outta there.
Our country is great. When one party takes over and gets power mad, the people slap them down and put the brakes on them. It happened in '94, and Dubya just saw it happen again in '06. The US rocks!

I'm a swing voter, I like some and fear some in all the parties. I hope all the winners of this election will work hard and do the right thing for America. Everything else including medical, education and the economy is meaningless without our freedom, liberties and security.

well if anyone saw Nancy's 100 day plan your hopes are out the window. I have no clue what that swamp thing she is referring to as #1. Killing the tax breaks has always been on their agenda and pulling out the troops has been since DAY ONE their #1 prioority. Once they cut and run (and they will start yelling for it in janunary) Iraq will go into civil war and their new president will be UBL and he will be buddy buddy with that Iranani nitwit and get back the "weapons" loaned to syria from saddam then we will have no choice but to drill for oil in ANWAR and off the gulf coast for OPEC will be too scared to ship oil to us because we are a bunch of cowards that cant finsih the job. Iraq needs to be secured UBL needs to be found so he won't blow up another warship in Yemen while Slick Willie is banging an intern in the oval office.

The dems idea of national security is serving cookies to our "enemies" at the rose garden and kissing their asses begging for forgivness when they do attack.

Those who think GW Bush is the worst President in history don't know their US History very well..or aren't old enough to recall the past history & lived thru it...The Dem's elected are conservative,I take peace knowing that alone..I can only pray they deliver on their promises & not lead us into lip service that they are so famous for in the past...I plan to be very patient while waiting on their glorious leadership that they claim they have in store for us..Even though their past is lousy I give them the benefit of the doubts, unlike they have given GW..

Let us hope that the GOP losers can go home and honestly reflect how they betrayed America and how they placed love of power and party above love of country. And think what fools they were to follow George W. Bush, the worst president in history.

You are not alone. Let us also pray that the democrats that got voted in are decent human beings instead of being like the past administration was.
