D there is an extra copy of chromosome 21 in many individuals with down syndrome. It doesn't have to be a complete copy, but for the purpose of your question D is definitely correct.

the answer is d. downs syndrome is also known as trisomy 21, the "tri" meaning that there are three of chromosome #21.
