You need to rinse the salt water off with some clean distilled water. Otherwise, the salt from the salt soak will concentrate around the piercing when it dries...this is very irritating and will prolong the healing. And do NOT put alcohol on it at all...green or otherwise...it's neither soothing (stings like mad) nor healing (it dries out the healing skin cells and kills them).

for all of my piercings using salt water i don't rinse it off. another thing that i've used is lever 2000 soap. a lot of people say "dont use antibacterial soap" but i've never had a problem with it and it works 1000 times better than salt does. good luck!

I also got my belly button done several years ago, and would rinse it with 'sea salt' water and leave it alone. I believe that was the most healing thing I did for it.

I got my 3 earrings in each of my ears and a navel ring and the guy that done them told me to leave the saltwater on them because if u have an infection it will clear it up at the same time

When I got my belly button done 4 years ago they told me to rince it with salt water and then leave it alone... so i would say leave it on.

I rinsed it when I had my navel done. Just leave it on, it isn't salty enough to do any damage, just keeps away the germs :)
