Did the same thing Seinfeld did on his show...
Telemarketer: Hello?
Me: Hello
Telemarketer: Hi I just wanted to ask you a few questions regarding blah blah blah.
Me: Well I don't have much time right now do you mind leaving your home phone number so I can talk to you later?
Telemarketer: Sorry I can't do that.
Me: Oh that's too bad. Is it because you don't want people you don't know calling your house number?
Telemarketer: Well, yes.
Me: Well so do I.
I laughed for a few minutes...

I dont feel bad for them at all if they ring me while im eating in the evening and they are off-shore marketers
(from india/asia/overseas etc) seeing im in Australia. They push the products down my throat or i get automated phonecalls from computer generated programs as well offering me a free holiday if i buy timeshares. I hang up after the initial "hello"...reason being? Because my number is PRIVATE and regardless they wont leave me alone. I hate it and have reported it to no avail...i think telemarketing (another form of spamming) should be illegal.

I have been a tele before and everyone was pretty nice to me. One guy called me and did not wait until I agreed before he started doing the survey so I stopped him and asked him his weight, religion, GPA, allergies, favorite ice cream, and the length of his big toe? He answered everything but the toe question. He started laughing and realized that some of these surveys are asking a lot from a complete stranger. One AT&T guy called my sister and said, "Don't you want to call your grandchildren?" She was sooo insulted because she is a young woman! It's a business like everything else. Best of luck to you!

I get up really, really, really, really early in the morning. Not by choice, but because I have to. As a result, I go to bed early. I had one call me after nine o'clock. I'm not generally a person who loses my cool, so I didn't say anything in a rude tone of voice, but I did say, "Do you know what time it is?!?!?!" She said, "uh huh". I said, "Do not ever call here this late again!" She acted like it was no big deal that she called at that time, so I hung up on her.

If it's a women I ask her for her personal phone number and ask if she want to go on a date, they like me, I try not to beat them up, they are just trying to make a living, but since I opted out I seldom get a call

I'm usually very nice...BUT I hate it when they call at dinnertime..as I'm usually doing 5 things at once and the phone is really a nusance! .I told one telemarketer one time, "Give me your phone number and I'll call you during your dinner!" Then I hung up!
I've also just put the phone down, and walked away..That's fun!
