This procedure consists of shooting dye into the tubes to see if there is any blockage. I'm wondering if anyone had success having this done and if it helped them conceive. I'm also curious how painful it is. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 7 months now. We've both been tested and both of us are fine but I'm still not pregnant. This is the next step.

I had this done Friday afternoon and a lot of women say it doesn't hurt. For me, it hurt. It was very uncomfortable when they inflamed the balloon. This was the most painful part and it felt like a jult of cramps....very very bad cramps. Once the procedure was done, the cramps started to slightly go away, but didn't fully go away for over 24 hours. Now, it being Sunday, I'm fine, like nothing happened. Good luck to you. I hear a lot of women get pregnant right after this procedure. I have been TTC for three years and nothing, so hopefully this procedure will work :)

I have had an HSG done and it was very painful for me. It does consist of injecting dye into your tubes by going through the cervics. (I have a very HIGH pain tolerence) I think it was so painful for me cause both tubes were blocked and the DR. tried to force more dye in. It caused me a lot of cramping. In the same breath, he ended up introducing an infection and I was allergic to the dye. With that scary information said, most woman don't have any problems with this procedure and normally have mild discomfort. It depends on the person and the difficulties you have. Didn't mean to scare you. Also, a lot of woman get pregnant after this procedure because (as i like to call it) it blows all the dust and cob webs out. I hope this helps you.

Hello there,
I can tell you that I went with my daughter-in-law when she had one done. I was there for moral support and so I was right there holding her hand. She did not seem to feel any pain at all. She is something of a baby and I think I would have known. She seemed perfectly comfortable the whole time. That was until they saw the results. They told her that her tubes were totally blocked, both of them. They told her that there was so much scar tissue that she could never, ever conceive. She was devastated. She cried and cried. I cried and cried! It was almost a year later that she found out she was expecting my three year old grandson!
That is what I know about the procedure.
Good luck and Blessings to you
