Have you called to see if the place you sent it received it? Maybe they are slow about depositing . If you put a stop payment it will cost you $30 or so.

First, it should not be possible for someone other than the business to cash the check, in a perfect world. However, each check that goes through a bank is not inspected perfectly and it could, in theory, get through.

A bigger concern is if someone takes the information off of your check, and prints out checks with your account number and info (you can buy that paper at office supply stores) and print up checks.

It is not normal for it to take two weeks for a check to make it to a domestic location. Have you checked your account to make sure it hasn't cleared out of your account? If it has, you can request a copy of the cleared check from your bank and let the Cobra people know what you've found.

I would consider the amount of the check when deciding to place a stop payment on it. If it's for 20 bucks or something, you might be able to live without that 20 dollars until the bank can investigate and get it back. If it's for 200, you may not have 200 more dollars to send to Cobra, and then wait for the bank to reimburse you for fraud on your account.

Good luck!

Yes, it would be possible for someone to cash the check at any bank, but the check would come back to you and henceforth you can trace where the check is cashed and file a police report on it.
It is a federal offense to do so, so unless it is a sizeable amount, nobody will attempt it.

I would just write another check for your payment, you don't want your insurance to lapse. That would be even worst.

You should call the person/company that you made the check out to and see if they recieved it, and or deposited it. I had a rent check one time not post for 6 months, but it was deposited a few days after I made it out.
You need to call them, and also your bank and let them know what is going on.

I don't think anybody else could cash it with out getting caught. but if i were you i would try to call the place were you sent the payment; if you can't get any help from them cancel immediately

Usually not. I wouldn't cancel it; I would call the business and see if they have received payment. Once you cancel it, if they try to cash it, it will bounce.
