Let's say a woman has intercourse while she is menstruating and takes an at home pregnancy test about 10 days later. How soon can it give her acurate results? I have heard some people say only 10 days.

Odds are while you're on your period you won't get pregnant, while it's possibly, it's also rare. Tests are designed to tell you up to 5 days before your missed period so you'd have to wait a while. Use a condom next time or invest in birth control.

Well, actually. I am 31 weeks pregnant as of today and I had a positive test results exactly 11 days later (you said about 10 days, so I am assuming 11 is ok) after my period. I know it is when I conceived because it is the only possible time it could have happened. (The one night my husband was home from training). I am not saying it happens all the time...b/c I would think it very rare to find out that early. The test even said that it would unlikely reflect positive results at that time if I was, but my hormone levels were obviously high.

The pregnancy tests are accurate once a woman has missed her period. If you had sex during menstruation, it is very unlikely that she is pregnant. Blood is a hostile environment for sperm and they have to be around long enough to meet the egg during ovulation (which occurs 10-18 days before the woman's period). Sperm will live up to five days in healthy cervical fluid (not blood). So basically she has to have a very short cycle in order to become pregnant from the intercourse you are referring. And anyone who told you that you could get an accurate result ten days after intercourse does not know what they are talking about.

No-usually not until at least 4 days before your next period is due at the earliest. They are not accurate before then meaning you could be pregnant yet it would say you were not because not enough HCG would be in your body.
