I love christmas, and since I am a University student, try to keep it relatively cheap, but it is difficult to do when you have so many people to buy for. I have my boyfriend, his parents, his sister, my parents, my 4 grandparents, my brother, his girlfriend, 2 nieces, 2 kids that I babysit, my best friend, and my cousin. And I only have a small family. Is this abnormal, or does everyone buy for this many people? With all those people I end up spending almost 1000 dollars.

Yeap, i have this problem. I have to buy for my boyfriend, my mom, dad, step dad, grandparents, step grandparents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Not to mention my friends, and some coworkers. I just graduated from college, and still have very little money. What i do is spend most of my money on my boyfriend and parents, and make things for everyone else. I am somewhat artistic, i can draw okay, so i make them cards. Most people LOVE them! They love the pictures and what i say, because i only write things that are heart felt. Or i will bake them cookies. And sometimes i will just get them something little, like a little stocking filled with goodies, that isn't usually too expensive. Maybe try to be creative with what you can do and make something. Or, sometimes my brothers and sisters and i will go in on a gift together for relatives. Like buy my dad football tickets and split the cost. We did that for his birthday this year, it ends up to be a little cheaper on everyone. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

What you could end do if you need to is pick names. And it doesn't have to be spendy. There are sales out there on a weekly basis. Especially if you start thinking about buying gift's now.

And do you really need to get the kids anything? Especially if they are really young and if your on a budget, and they don't get you anything in return. I'd just worry about immediate family in who you give gift's too. I use to think I had to buy for everybody when I realized that I don't. And I don't need to get them expensive gifts either.

The other thing is. Instead of giving for an individual person or kid. Get for an individual Family included the kids so that it can be a family gift. Especially if you are on your own. And espeically since i'm sure they don't expect you to make a lot of money since you go to college and on a budget. I"m sure they understand. Best of luck!

At one time I had to buy gifts for 78 people. Too much money. Try making gifts for some of the people candy, cookies, knit scarf. For the kids, go to the dollar store and get some items there. For your brother get McDonald's gift certificate. Grandparents matching key chains or luggage tags. Boyfriend, up to you.

take away the not-related-to-you people. like your boyfriend's sis and parents. you don't have to get gifts for the kids that you babysit, either. that's just too much people and you will need to save it up for something better. you should let the kids you babysit's parents give you a present cause they have to thank you for helping them. also, you don't have to get them exactly what they want. just keep it simple and spend as little money as you can. but if you don't want to let even the unnecessary people go, then consider writing cards.

not me. Now that I live on my own, I send cards to all family and friends and send gifts to the children (niece, god-children), but I've only got 3 to worry about there. My best friend gets the majority of my gifting...

Actual gifts cost me 100-300 max...I don't have the kind of $ to shell out.
