I am usually not into reading but this one caught my attention. After I read about 100 pages I couldn't stop reading.

What books are similar to the Da Vinci Code that I can read?

I enjoyed Da Vinci code because of the mystery aspect. If it was the mystery you liked, try reading books by John Grisham. I love his books. They are suspenseful and I can't put them down.

According to the NY Times book review by Laura Miller on February 22, 2004, the Priory of Sion is a little splinter social group founded about 50 years ago. The genealogical tables and other documents were fabricated by co-conspirators of Pierre Plantard. Remember that Leonardo's painting is just an interpretation of a scene that took place 1,00 years earlier. "Any art historian could tell [Brown] that the figure, always thought to be St. John the Apostle, resembles other Leonardo portraits of biblical figures as effeminate men.* If Da Vinci thought John looked like a girly man, that's one thing. But a girlish-looking figure in a painting isn't proof that Mary was present at the Last Supper, let alone that Jesus and Mary were married. (And, by the way, if Mary was sitting in John's seat at the Last Supper, where was John?)" There are books at the library and bookstore that debunk many of the "facts" in this book.

If you liked this book, I just finished a book by Chris Kuzneski that made the Da Vinci Code sound like a beginners book. It is called Sign of the Cross. Excellent and I found out that he introduced his heroes in a first book called The Plantation which I have yet to read or buy. Enjoy. If you like books of this type of genre you might want to check out Matthew Reilly or James Rollins, excellent authors. Or maybe Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Have fun reading.

The Book of Fate by Brad Melzer, The Last Cato by Matilde Asensi, The Sign of the Cross by Chris Kuszniewski (sp)...all good Da Vinci-type mysteries.
The first two are still only in hardcover, but the third just came out Tuesday in paperback.

If you haven't already, read Dan Brown's other works, especially "Angels and Demons." Another author I would suggest is Arturo Perez-Reverte. "The Flanders Panel" and "The Club Dumas" have the same sort of mystery puzzle style as "The Da Vinci Code." If you like that aspect of it, you might also like Katherine Neville's works such as "The Eight" or Umberto Eco's works such as "The Name of the Rose." Reviewers have taken to saying that Neville, Eco, and Brown make a trio of good reading. If you like one of those authors, you will probably like the other two. Some other books you might like are "The Dante Club" and "The Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl and "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. All of these books basically follow the same theme of a race to solve a puzzle by following scattered clues and they are all very well written.

After reading the Da Vinci Code you need some light material.

I find the lables on tins of baked beans very interesting.
After reading them for a while you could always step up to the backs of packets of corn flakes.
