Walt Disney World was created with the idea of a place where people could come for a vacation and not have to leave property. Walt Disney World has certainly achieved that.

There's over 25 Resort options right on property. There's four incredible theme parks, two awesome water parks, and Downtown Disney ("in a city of choices, the metropolis of fun.") There's nearly one hundred stores and restaurants at Downtown Disney, along with DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, Pleasure Island (a large assortment of night clubs,) an AMC 24-Theatre Complex, and Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba. At Disney's Contemporary Resort is Sammy Duvall's where you can go parasailing, tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, boating, etc. At Disney's Boardwalk Inn is a replica of the original Atlantic City Boardwalk and at this Boardwalk is an ESPN Club, Jellyrolls piano bar, and the Atlantic Dance Hall. There's also the Big River Grille & Brewing Works restaurant with its own microbrewery where people can sample beers. At Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground people can bring their RVs and campers, and even their pets. The Resort offers horseback riding, pony rides, and carriage and wagon rides. Each of the Resorts offers their own selection of recreation. Almost all have personal watercraft (SeaRaycers by SeaRay) rentals, surrey bike rentals, and arcades. People can go on guided fishing excursions or fireworks/specialty cruises. There are five championship golf courses as well as two different places to play mini golf. There are also three fantastic spas on property. Near the Magic Kingdom is the Richard Petty Driving Course where you can take lessons and then drive a real racecar. Each of the theme parks offer behind-the-scenes tours. At Typhoon Lagoon, one of the Walt Disney World water parks, you can take surfing lessons in the giant wave pool and go swimming with sharks and stingrays at Shark Reef.

Walt Disney World offers special vacation packages for people celebrating graduations, weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries. It's a perfect vacation spot for couples, families, groups of friends, school classes, and even people who vacation solo. People come to the Walt Disney World for weeks, even months at a time, literally. It's easy to stay there for up to a month and never run out of things to do, never get bored, and never even have to leave Walt Disney World property.

There are some families out there who go to Walt Disney World multiple times per year, like people with annual passes. People who don't know Walt Disney World wonder, "how can you go to the same place every year?" Well, it changes every year. I went to Walt Disney World in August, and since then, already two more attractions have opened. By the time I go next summer there'll be at least another seven new attractions, rides, restaurants, etc.

Another reason it's so popular is because DisneyLand was the first theme park ever built. Disney is just a well-known name. Walt Disney World, specifically the Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT, were the last creations Walt Disney himself influenced.

It's an amazing place and I try to go every year, now. I've already booked my next vacation for July and I absolutely can't wait. There's so much to do at Walt Disney World and so much to see, it will take me the entire time, from now until I leave, to plan my entire vacation.

One last reason as to why Walt Disney World is so famous- they employ people from so many countries from all around the world. Anyone from another country can come here and there will be people they can easily speak to at the different Resorts and Parks. Maps for each of the parks are printed in every language. Foreigners don't have to be worried they won't be able to get around or ask questions. Walt Disney World was actually created for anyone and everyone.

This is all why Walt Disney World is so famous.

(Since this is the second time you're asking this, pick a good answer that actually gives you a lot of good information.)

Well, first he made money drawing cartoons for someone else. Then formed his own company and received the first Oscar for an animated movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He was frustrated with the amusement parks available to his nieces and nephews so he developed Disney Land as a place where parents and children could get "into the scene" or more appropriately, enjoy the experience together. Although Walt was not alive when Disney World opened, he did the master plan and envisioned the entire project up until EPCOT which he thought was the Environmental Protected City Of Tomorrow. Great Question and a very worthwhile goal!

Simple - Advertising! Their most succeful campaign involved the Superbowl. They would interview the winning quarterback: "You've just won the Superbowl! What are you going to do next?" and he'd answer "I'm going to Disney World!" This campaign ran for many years.

Disneyland was the first park Walt built, and really the first fully themed park ever. He was told by potential investors it would never work unless he included carny rides and games; that people would leave with their money in their pockets. Boy, were THEY wrong!

One of his investors was ABC and they broadcast opening day live. In return for their investment, they asked Walt to create one hour of television programming weekly. Walt jumped at the chance, because it gave him a built-in audience to promote the parks and any other projects he was working on. Many World of Disney shows in the late 60s featured plan for the Florida Project, including the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT). It was planned to be far different than the permanent World's Fair it morphed into - it was supposed to house people and offer homes and shopping and working districts; a real model city.

But Walt dies, and the Florida Project continued. First to open was the Magic Kingdom followed by EPCOT. Disney's plan was to bring people to the park and fulfill their every need so they wouldn't want to or have to go off property. Universal announced an Orlando theme park and Disney built MGM before Universal opened. People would go off to visit Busch Gardens and Disney responded by building Animal Kingdom. They've got hotels of every level of affordability, and are currently working on building even more.

So Disney World built off the success of Disneyland and the "Wonderful World of Disney" television program, then expanded that success by adding more attractions and resorts and activities to meet guest's desires. And advertising at each step of the way.

What's interesting right now, though, is that comparitively Disneyland is doing much better. There's a huge local base of annual passholders who go to Disneyland, and the recent 50th anniversary has inflated park attendance to the point they've had to close their doors to new guests. Disney World wishes they could get the attendance that Disneyland is currently enjoying, but that's the tradeoff of having such a large property at Disney World.

it is famous because it is the first theme park that tried to expose people to other cultures and tried to educate people through EPCOT ( environmental prototype communiy of tomorrow) for the most part it did succeed and many people were educated... the funny thing is is that it had the opposite result that walt disney wanted. he wanted them to see how much more superior america was than other countries but instead people just learned to accept other cultures
