I'm trying to get started in my own DJ Project... I'm specifically looking for tips on what equipment to buy, and how to best acquire a sizeable music collection legally. Any ideas?

K, folks... here's an update to the question- I already own a couple Numark CD players, and their mixer... I need help deciding on turntables, and speakers, mostly. Also, I do produce my own music, so my goal with this is to gain a recording contract... any ideas? And please be constructive.

my dad is a dj and got all his equiptment from "dj planet" if there isnt a dj plantet near you, then go on the website and look up stuff. and if u wanna be a GOOD dj u might want 2 amps.

the kind of speakers he has, are JBL those are hot.

and u also wanna be sure u have good transportation. we have a system that rolls around and is all put together so it isnt, the systen, the amps, and the power box all individual. and after a year or two of putting it on its side in a expeditoin, it has affected one of the CD players to not play as well.
