suggestive selling is trying to sell ANYTHING to raise the bill. Whether it be appetizers, soups, salads, or even "upselling" to a better liquor. For instance, Grey Goose instead of Smirnoff. Or Petron instead of Quervo. And Being in the weeds is pretty much just getting behind on everything you have to do. Servers are supposed to "multitask" and do many things at once, but sometimes they get behind and can't do EVERYTHING at once.

Suggestive selling is using descriptive words to enhance a guests dining experience by assuring they recieve items that complement their order, or suggesting a better alternative , Like a less fatty steak, or a blush wine with dessert. "In the weeds" is when the tasks of a restaraunt worker needing to be completed at once add up and trying to get through them all is going slower than need be. LIke walking through very tall weeds.

Examples of suggestive selling are when you go to McDonald's and you order a burger and a drink and they ask if you want fries. Or you order a burger, fries and a drink and they ask if you'd like apple pies. It's just suggesting another item to the customer in hopes of getting them to order more and make more money for the business.

I have no idea what "in the weeds" dining is.

suggestive selling, is upselling, offering guests appetizers and desserts for example..trying to increase the sales of the visit...and "in the weeds" the only connotation i know of that is to be busy...if your cooks are getting behind on orders and need help, they are considered to be "in the weeds" though im not sure if that is what you are referring to. hope it helps
