Empathy and intuition are feeling based, emotions that well up in you in response to external stimuli acting on you. These two internal actions can result with any facts to give you a basis for the response. EMOTION provides your empathy or intuition.
Rationalism and empiricism both result from a given set of occurences that fit in with your own attitudes. Certain facts about the occurence cause one to equate that occurence to pre-conceived notions that you have. REASON provides your opinion or attitude.
One must always know if reason or emotion gives the answer!

Empathy is an evolutionary response - developed to survive.
Intuition is not that different from reason.
Basically intuiting is a process of drawing conclusions when not enough data is available, as such error rate is high.
Compare it to reasoning which is a process of drawing conclusions when a lot of data is available, as such error rate is low.
