I like your name. Why change it? Separate it into two parts with a hyphen...Jun-ming.

But if you insist...Jermaine, Jimmy, Justin.

Pick something close to your original name or you won't answer to it.

Good Luck!

i still like junming! :)

Be very careful when picking an American Name... it should be something you really like. You can always buy a baby name book a the book store, or look up baby boy name on the internet. Every name means something... meaning behind first names can also be found on the internet. TAKE YOUR TIME PICKING A NAME...
Here are some suggestions:
1. Jefferson (this was the last name of an American President)
2. Jesse
3. Jack
4. Alexander (as in Alexander Gram Bell, inventor of the telephone)
5. Benjamin (as in Benjamine Franklin, one of the founding fathers of America)
6. Conner
7. Donavan
8. Evin
9. Eric
10. Gabriel
11. Morgan (this is an Irish name)
12. Nathaniel
13. Quintin
14. Trever
15. Victor
16. Zachary
17. Xavier

Dear Junming,

Almost all English names do mean something, even though many American parents do not choose their babies' names that way.

There are books and websites that tell what English and other names mean. You could look at these lists, and find which names fit with your character. For instance, there are names that mean "gentle" or "amicable." Use a thesarus if you need, to find other words similar to those, such as "friend" or "friendly", "kind," etc. and see if you like the English names that go with those definitions. You can choose that name or make up one that's close to that.

For instance, the name "Holden" means "kindly and gracious." "Keefe" means "gentle, noble."

The websites - and look for the Social Security Administration lists - show you how to find out the 100 or so most popular names in America. You can check the names you like to make sure they are not on the most-popular list since you want a name that is not common.

Webistes you can try include gobabynameworld.com. This gives you many places you can check.

Lots of the sites also give examples of famous people with these names. To give you an idea, "Holden" is the first name of a the teen-age boy who was the leading character in a famous American book "Catcher in the Rye." When hearing someone's name, it's natural to think of famous people or not-famous people we know have that name. You'll want to keep that in mind so you don't end up sharing your name with someone with a bad reputation.

Another idea is to think of English names that you like or people you like or respect, living or dead, who you can identify yourself with, and pick one of those.

My last suggestion is what my family did for my Chinese stepsister: we found out what her Chinese name meant in English. We also looked at what her Chinese name looked like in Chinese characters. Her Chinese name was pronounced in English like Ding Ya. She ended up choosing the name "Joy," and was very happy with it.

I hope these ideas help. Good luck. I'd like to know what your new English name will be.

Hi, and welcome!
I wish I knew what your last name was; but can understand the reason why you would not.
how about 'Xavier'? It means "bright" in Arabic.
And why not? You are a bright person who also happens to be gentle and amiable. I would think that would be a nice English name for you.
So, I hope you check out all the names on this site and see which one fits you and your last name. I wish you nothing but the best.

您好,Junming. it's kind of hard finding an english name for Junming. i'm thinking of the name Jeremy, Jerry, or Jeremiah, but you said that you want a name that's very common. so do you want a name that sounds like your chinese name or something that sounds nothing like it. it depends. for example, my first name is Sara, but it sounds nothing like 佳佳 (well, since my chinese name only has one word in it other than the last name, people call me 佳佳.)

hope you find a good first name! =]

hi, Junming.
do you have someone that you admire their style, their way of presenting their self to others.
you could look up famous English men or American men.
many actors have names that are not always as well known, too.
history is full of names, men of adventure, heroes, authors. depending on your religious beliefs, that can be another area to consider looking at.
good luck.
