you can use a ditto to breed with the charmander - but i would not recommend that, because you'll get the lower stat bases that the ditto family has.

ditto can breed with almost everything, except the legendaries that can't be bred at all. in fact, i don't even think it's fair that legendaries can be caught in the first place - most of them represent some elemental form (like grouden, kyogre, and rayquaza)

when you breed, it's not just form that gets passed down, it's also base stats, and ditto has bad stats to make up for the fact that it can be bred with most of the pokemon.

to get a female charmander with decent stats, you need to have selected a female from the start. at the beginning of the game, save before you pick out the charmander, then just restart the game if you end up getting a male. there is like an 87.5% chance it will be a male, and only a 12.5% chance it will be female, so getting a female is very hard to do! (that's a 1 in 8 possibility)

also, charmander can breed, charmeleon can breed, and charizard can breed - all to the same effect. there is no reason what-so-ever to wait til it is a charizard (unless you are trying to breed a flying type move learned by charizard (wing attack) into another type)

charmander's family's breeding type is dragon/monster - it can be bred with anything in the dragon breeding type, or the monster breeding type

if your real intent is to have a female charmander, you should have selected one in the first place. the trick in selecting it is to save first before being offered your starting pokemon, then restart the game if the offer turns out to be a male. since you already have one (a male), try breeding it with another fire-type pokemon or a ditto, as some would say, AFTER it has evolved into a charizzard.

To get a female charmander capture a female ditto and then tell the ditto to tranceform into charmander (show it the pokemon).And then it'll cange into a female charmander.

first you have to evolve it into Charizard, then use a ditto. I have about 20 eggs waiting to hatch because I left them in the daycare center.(works with alll pokemon but legendaries!)
