Plywood offers excellent shear strength, which is the reason why it has wide application in the construction industry. It's the same reason why Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose", the largest plane ever built, has plywood for its structural skin. Unfortunately, most grades of plywood have poor water resistance, so unless it's protected from moisture it will tend to delaminate.

who know the Advantages or Disadvantages of Plywood if you do not know what you are going to use it for. You can build a bird, Dog, play, house out of it. Or even a real house. The Advantage of Plywood is that it will not fall apart like Pressed wood. It is also stronger and thinner then pressed wood. The Disadvantage is the coast. it is cheaper to buy pressed wood then it is to buy plywood.
Hope that helps.

Plywood's great. We use it for floors and exterior walls. It comes in 8 foot by 4 foot sheets, so its nice and big. Its farely strong, and takes water ok. It usually has a nice side, and a not so nice side. Unless you're getting the floor grade stuff, which is nice and rough.

Advantages: inexpensive when compared to solid wood, often more durable and capable of higher stress levels, easier to mass produce because it compiles scrap wood into useable material
Disadvantages: often heavier than solid wood, not as attractive as solid wood, splinters easily
Plywood is used in many ways in construction, maily in roofing and flooring.
