I'm auditioning for the part of Hermia in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the director has indicated he would prefer Hermia to be shorter than Helena, another female lead, also uncast.
I'm 5'6", not particularly short. I'm also quite thin. What could I wear during auditions to look shorter and more compact? Are there any style tricks, etc. I could use?

im 5'6 and im 12 so you are not tall you are average but if you need to look shorter you could wear a longer shirt and shorter pants. dont wear heels. hope this helps!

I am 13 and only 4"8 I know I am very short and I hate it I would trade anything in the world to be tall but I can't but if instead of heals you wear flip flops or some kind of shoe with a very flat heal and pin stripes and grays and blacks.

wow i'm not the only person that has the shape of a green bean!?!?! I would suggest wearing pants that are really long and a shirt that is too big. It won't be the most "in" outfit but it will definately make you look shorter...well until you stand next to the other girls. By the way, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

i'm tall too..5'8'' and skinny. you can wear cute clothes without looking too tall. try horizontal stripes. don't wear heels, flats are fine. if you have skinny jeans they are tighter fitting, so they don't make you look too too thin b/c they look smaller at the ankels, and bigger in the thighs. thats what i've got, but I wouldn't worry about it too much

Flats, and mix the colors of your top and bottom. In other words, if you wear black on top and bottom you will look taller as the color "follows through"; but if you wear gray on top and black on bottom you will "cut yourself in the middle" and look shorter.

hmmm. i dont knwo any advice, but, since your really tall ( wich i think is really cool) then maybe you should try out for helena.. idk .. maybe.. :]
