I really like hippos, but I don't have room for a full-size one.

The word pygmy is a little misleading. While the pygmy hippopotamus is smaller than than the river hippo, it is still a rather large animal.
Pygmy hippos average between 4.7 and 5.8 feet in length, between 2.5 and 3.3 feet in height, and weigh between 350 and 600 pounds. It is still going to take a lot of room for one of these animals.
Their diet consists of water plants, grasses, fallen fruit, leaves.
And lots of them, up to 30 pounds per day.

Consider than when a hippo poops, it uses its tail to spray it around in all directions.

Add to the fact that they're an endangered species and are highly unsuitable as pets.
