sunday is day if the sun obviously, in Norse....Monday is day of the moon, also in norse....Teusday...I don't remember if the god was roman or germanic or norse but his name was Tiw.......wednesday originally came from the germanic or Norse god Odin but the germanic peoples changed it to Woden, so "Woden's day".......thursday is "Thor's day", Thor being the european god of thunder.......friday is the onlyone associated w/ a goddess and means "day of Frigga", a goddess of the harvest.......Saturday came from the Roman God, whom I'm not positive but may have been the god of agriculture, Saturnus, so "day of saturnus".....this was more than likely also how the roman festival of saturnalia began. Hope this helps!

Sunday: sun. Monday: moon. Tuesday: Tiu. Wednesday: Wotan. Thursday: Thor. Friday: Frija. Saturday: Saturn. Spellings differ as at the time the day names arose people were a lot less fussy about spelling than they are now.

I can no longer recall since my learning was so long ago, but I'm thinking that all the days of the week as well as the months are named after some gods or other. I'm not sure if they were Greek gods or not. Friday comes from some god chick Freidig or something or other. Hope you get your answer!

Sunday was named after the sun
Monday was named after the moon
Tuesday was a corrupted version of Zeus day
I forget what wednesday was named after
Thursday was named after Thor
Friday was named after Free day
Saturday was named after Saturn
Sunday obviously the sun.
The names come from figures in Pagan and Roman mythology.

Actually you're mixing the two. There's the Latin verison where it represents the sun and planets and the Norse ones where you get thor.
English French "Planet"
Monday lundi Moon
Tuesday mardi Mars
Wednesday mercredi Mercury
Thursday jeudi Jupiter
Friday vendredi Venus
Saturday samedi Saturn
Sunday dimanche (Sun)
