Yes, we do have a cleaning lady. She's so nice! She comes three times a week. We just make a list of things for her to do around the house. She was hired so that we could focus more on homework rather than housework. However, we all know how to clean. Typical things she does are: vacuum, clean the bathrooms, change the bed sheets, dusting, etc. Sometimes she does a couple loads of laundry, but we usually do that ourselves.

I am the cleaning lady!!! I do all the stuff by myself, with a little help from my husband.
I did, however, live my Aunt & Uncle for a couple years while going to college, and they had a cleaning lady. I was never there when she came over, but she cleaned every two weeks. She cleaned the bathrooms, kitchens, living & dining rooms. If my bedroom door was closed, then she knew not to clean it. If she did clean it, it was only vacuuming. She would of done more if I wanted her too, though. She did laundry too, I think. She also came in between weeks to get ready for holidays. If you are thinking of getting one, you should see if he/she will come between weeks or at holidays if needed.
Good Luck with finding one!

I would love to have a cleaning lady. I do plan to hire one, when, I have a larger home. Basically, I would want a person to do my heavy, deep cleaning with the bathrooms, kitchen, livingrooms and bedrooms for easier up keep. I would say that once a week is fine or maybe twice a month for those with little traffic in the house.

When I didn't have kids and had my own 600 sq ft cottage...I absolutely had a cleaning lady. She came in once a month. It was something I did *for myself*.
Now, married and w/ a Toddler...we have a housekeeper...still once a month. And it's still something I do *for myself* :)
I work f/t from a home office.....so, finding balance is always a challenge.
The once-a-month cleaning is the deep cleaning I can't stand to do: scrubbing shower, window blinds, stovetop, oven, waxing floors, etc. If it's just prior to an event at our house...then, she'll do anything extra I ask her to.
Cheers.

My parents have always had a cleaning person, and she would do whatever cleaning they asked of her. In general, they wanted someone who would scrub the toilets, bathtubs, sinks and then do general dusting and sweeping.
Make sure you get a cleaning person who is bonded, so that you don't have to worry about him or her breaking household items, or causing damage in your home.
Also, keep in mind that smelling clean and being clean are two separate things!

I have had one for years. Basically she does anything I ask of her, even windows. Generally she dusts, vacuums, mops, cleans the bathrooms and kitchen. She changes sheets on my beds. She'll throw in a load of wash. It is great. And a couple of times a year she does deeper cleaning, like oiling all the cupboards, etc.

Yes I do. She is me.
My sister has a 3-days-a-week housekeeper. She pretty much does maintainence cleaning--dusting, vacuuming, mopping, etc. She might load up the dishwasher, but she doesn't do hardcore pot-scrubbing or anything. I think it depends on what you agree to when you hire them.
